Promotion of science in Belgium

Science policy in Belgium is split between the federal and regional authorities.  Policies are co-ordinated at federal level and there is also interaction between the regional authorities on some subjects (i.e. European space projects). More information on what the relevant regional and federal bodies do can be found under 'Useful links', on the right side of this page.

Extensive information on Science, technology and industry in Belgium can also be found in the OECD Outlook produced in 2004. It is slightly out of date but still relevant. To download it, please go to 'Related documents', also on the right side of this page.

In September 2001, the Belgian Ministry for Science, Technology and Culture (SSTC) launched the website "www.belspo.be/young", especially designed for young people, offering background information on scientific topics. Please find additional information by logging on the web site, which is available in French and Flemish.
