The deputy head of mission is responsible to the Ambassador for the overall coordination of the Embassy management, staffing and resource issues. He leads on bilateral relations policy, and supervises the work of other Embassy sections.

The political and public affairs section analyses and reports on Belgian EU and foreign policy and on political and economic developments in Belgium. Members of the political and public affairs section lobby the Belgian Government to ensure that the UK Government's position is well understood and supported. The section is also responsible for contacts with the media and the general public.
Defence matters between UK and Belgium are covered by the Defence Section at the British Embassy in The Hague, Netherlands.
